Uzwelo – Our story, so far…

For those of you that haven’t been following the Uzwelo story, you may have a vague understanding as to what this project is all about – use the waste fabric from our banners to make a wide variety of bags.

But it’s so much more than that…
Only a few of us have had the privilege to be on this amazing journey from day one and to realise how diverse this project really is. A journey that developed from a simple idea into possibly the next big thing. An idea that stemmed from the dangers of complaining but doing nothing about our country’s woes and the passion our CEO, Don Bailey has for our environment and conservation.

So apart from making really awesome one-of-a-kind bags, what is Uzwelo all about?

Skills Development

It’s about how lives could change, how families could be empowered and how communities could be uplifted and brought out of poverty through skill development, entrepreneurship, education and giving people real hope.

Environment

A brand born out of the need to re-cycle waste fabric from within the textile printing industry. We use our waste fabric that normally goes into landfills to make functional, stylish and affordable bags of all shapes and sizes.

Conservation

The Bateleurs are a NPO Organisation that “Fly For Conservation”.

A percentage of all sales will be donated to this organization and thereby assist with caring for the wildlife environment of South Africa.

With this simple vision, we don’t intend on changing the world but instead change the world for one person at a time.

“We have given people hope. The challenge is to keep it alive.”
